Vasudeo Paranjape gained fame as the coach of many superstars of India cricket.
He played 29 FC matches for Mumbai and Baroda from 1956/57-1969/70, making 785 runs and picking 9 wickets. He made 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries in his career with the best score of 127 runs.
After retirement, Paranjape became one of the most renowned coaches influencing the careers of Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rohit Sharma amongst others. He also gave Gavaskar the nickname ‘Sunny’.
Members of the Indian cricket fraternity paid rich tributes to Vasoo Paranjape who was highly regarded not only in Mumbai but the whole Indian cricketing circle.
