Craig Ervine will lead Zimbabwe in the limited-overs series in Ireland and Scotland.
Veteran Zimbabwe all-rounder and Test captain Sean Williams has decided to take some time away from international cricket citing bio-bubble fatigue and uncertainty over his future as a cricketer.
He is one of the senior-most players of Zimbabwe team having played 14 Tests, 136 ODI, and 47 T20Is since making his international debut in 2005. The 34-year-old has reportedly informed Zimbabwe Cricket and the team management that he will step away from international cricket after the upcoming Ireland tour.
The Test skipper had requested the national selectors to not consider him for the five T20Is in Ireland, starting Friday, August 27, or the T20Is in Scotland next month, but will be available for the three ODIs.

However, Williams is reportedly open to the possibility of playing the limited-overs cricket for Zimbabwe in the future. It is being said that he arrived in Ireland on Wednesday, August 25, six days after the rest of the squad, after requesting a mental-health break from the T20I series.
Meanwhile, Craig Ervine will lead Zimbabwe in the limited-overs series in Ireland and Scotland.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) said in a statement: “While Sean Williams is the substantive Test skipper, Zimbabwe Cricket has been rotating the captaincy in the shorter formats of the game, with Chamu Chibhabha, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza, and Williams himself taking turns to lead the team in recent one-day international (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series.”
Noteworthy, the five-match T20I series will commence on August 27 in Dublin while the ODI leg of the tour will get underway on September 8 followed by the three T20Is against Scotland on September 15, 17, and 19 in Edinburgh.
