Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam is confident that the subcontinental side led by Babar Azam will perform well against West Indies as the two teams are scheduled to lock horns in a two-match Test series beginning from 12 August.

We have won the last two of our Test series. Now, we are here in West Indies and we have a winning momentum on our side which is very important,” the 35-year-old cricketer said in a video message shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday.

If you win, your confidence level goes up as a player and a team. Hopefully, we will take that forward and try to win the Test series,” he added.

When asked about the preparations for the upcoming Test series after Pakistan’s intra-squad match was washed out, the left-hand batsman ruled out that rain would be a factor and said that a cricketer has to be ready for any situation.

WI v PAK 2021: "Little disappointing" - Phil Simmons on West Indies' preparations for Pakistan Tests

You don't have any excuses. It is extremely important that you prepare before an international match. Our first intra-squad practice match was washed out by the rain. You usually see this kind of weather in England. However, as professionals, we are always ready for these situations,” the opening batsman said.

The good thing is that we are getting a chance to practice on the centre pitch. We are undergoing tough physical training to cope with the weather and temperature,” the southpaw concluded.

The two-match Test series between West Indies and Pakistan is slated to begin from August 12-16 with the second Test match scheduled from August 20-24 with both Test matches to be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
