Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi on Saturday (July 31) reacted to the ongoing tussle between BCCI and PCB over the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

In a statement, PCB alleged that BCCI has called multiple ICC Members and forced them to withdraw their retired cricketers from the inaugural edition of KPL, due to start on August 6.

Meanwhile, former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs accused the BCCI of trying to prevent him from taking part in KPL.

Taking to Twitter, Gibbs wrote, “Completely unnecessary of the @BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the @kpl_20. Also threatening me saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous.”

Afridi quoted Gibbs’ post and tweeted: “Really disappointing that BCCI is once again mixing cricket and politics! KPL is a league for Kashmir, Pakistan and cricket fans around the world. We will put up a wonderful show and won't be deterred with such behaviour!!”

Earlier in the day, PCB also alleged that BCCI has breached international norms and the spirit of the gentleman’s game by interfering in internal affairs of the ICC Members as the KPL has been approved by the PCB.

KPL has six teams in the tournament which are named Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals, and Kotli Lions.

Pakistan's leading cricketers such as Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan, Shoaib Malik, and Kamran Akmal are the captains.
