Veteran Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is all set to miss the remainder of the Zimbabwe tour due to “family reasons”, as he is flying back to Dhaka on Wednesday (July 14).

Mushfiqur had decided to play the whole series after initially opting out of the T20I series to be available for the upcoming home series against Australia but now has suddenly opted out of the entire white-ball series against Zimbabwe because of the sudden situation in his family.

On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Mushfiqur will not be available for the upcoming three-match ODI series, starting on July 16 in Harare, as well as, the three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe as he is returning home after his parents tested positive for COVID-19, as per Cricbuzz reports.

The BCB in a statement on Wednesday, “Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the tour in Zimbabwe for family reasons. He will leave Harare later today and travel to Dhaka.”

The statement further reads, “Mushfiqur will miss Bangladesh's three ODIs against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on 16, 18, and 20 July and also the three-match T20 international series that starts at the same venue on 23 July. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requests that all respect the privacy of Mushfiqur and his family at this time.”

Following the latest development, Mushfiqur's participation in the Australia series is in doubt, as the BCB and Cricket Australia had decided that everyone involved in the limited-overs series must be in quarantine for ten days before entering the bio-bubble in Dhaka and it would be difficult for the veteran cricketer to do so.
