Dwayne Bravo helped WI win the 4th T20I vs SA taking four wickets.
After West Indies defeated South Africa by 21 runs in the fourth T20I to level the series 2-2, skipper Kieron Pollard rubbished the talks regarding the form and fitness of ace all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, saying that the all-rounder is a special player and has nothing to prove.
Asked to bat first, West Indies on the back of skipper Kieron Pollard’s brutal 25-ball 51 runs posted a total of 167 runs. Chasing the target, South Africa tumbled as Dwayne Bravo’s 4/19 helped the home side complete a 21-run victory to level the series.
Before the series, questions were raised over the selection of the 37-year-old Dwayne Bravo as many felt he is out of form and has fitness issues. However, the swashbuckling all-rounder replied to all the critics in style as he took a three-wicket haul in the third T20I and followed it up with a match-winning four-wicket haul in the fourth T20I.
West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard lauded seamers Dwayne Bravo and Obed McCoy saying that the former has nothing to prove to anyone as they all want to do well for the West Indies.
“Bravo and McCoy have been doing well for us. A total team effort. Dwayne has been phenomenal. The chatter around these guys is very disappointing. He has nothing to prove to anyone. We all want to do well for the Caribbean,” Kieron Pollard said.
While talking about his knock Kieron Pollard said that all he did was gave himself time and tried to be there till the very end. He added that they as a batting unit always speak about batting till the end and rotating the strike.
“In a game like this, you have to come out and win. Tried to give myself a chance and be there at the end. We speak about batting down till the end. The batters will continue rotating the strike. We were right into the game,” he said.
The fifth and the final T20I between West Indies and South Africa will take place on 3rd July at National Cricket Stadium, St George's, Grenada.
