Shoaib Akhtar says 5-match Test series just for India, Australia and England; rues Pakistan not doing so

Akhtar couldn't remember when was the last time Pakistan played a five-match Test series.

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar who is known for his straightforward tweets and speaking his mind on social media recently quoted cricket video archivist Rob Moody who said it would be wonderful to see New Zealand playing 5-match Test series.

He then pointed out that the last time Kiwis played a five Test match series was back in 1971. Akhtar after seeing this tweet replied to it by asking him ‘when did Pakistan play the 5-match Test series last?’.

The right-arm quick was not happy with Pakistan not getting five-match Test series and remarked that such long Test series are for countries like India, Australia, and England only.

“When was the last time Pakistan played a 5-test series? Can't remember.  I think 1992 summer. They're just for England, Australia & India,” Akhtar wrote on Twitter.

Team India who is currently playing the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand at Southampton, will then clash with England in a five-match Test series scheduled to begin from August 4.

After the first Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Virat Kohli and Co. will be travelling to London for the second Test at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s and then to Leeds for the third Test only to return to London for the fourth Test at Kennington Oval followed by the final Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester from September 10.
