India opener Shubman Gill likes the coaching style of legendary Rahul Dravid, who is also the current Director of Cricket Operations at NCA. Gill was coached by Dravid when he played under-19 cricket for India.

The 21-year-old, speaking on The Grade Cricketer's YouTube channel, opened up about Dravid's main focus as a coach. He said the ex-India cricketer helps a player to be mentally strong so he could deal with the pressure situations with ease.

Usually, players fail to perform in crunch situations after they couldn't bring out their best. Gill said Dravid doesn't adjust the techniques of a player much but asks them to work on mental and tactical aspects.

“He's a kind of a coach who doesn't like to tweak much with players' [techniques]. He won't go to a player and say 'improve this in your technique' or do this or that. He focuses more on the mental and tactical aspects, how you can approach your game, how you can be mentally tougher in a tough situation,” he said.

“People would think that because he was so technically solid he would be telling them a lot of technical stuff but he works more on the tactical aspect and the mindset of the players,” he added.

Gill was part of the India U-19 2018 World Cup-winning side which was coached by Dravid. The 48-year-old will be with Team India's senior team on the Sri Lanka tour in July.
