Veteran Australian opener David Warner hailed Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as a fantastic talent, comparing his batting style to that of Australian legend Adam Gilchrist.

Rishabh Pant over the last few months have been one of the mainstays of the Indian batting line-up. The 23-years-old was one of the main reasons behind India’s triumph over Australia down under in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and then later dominated England across all formats at home.

Rishabh Pant has amassed 544 runs in the previous two Test series against Australia and England and is also India’s leading run-scorer across the formats this year.

In an interaction with Sports today, veteran Australian opener David Warner advised Rishabh Pant to play in the way he does. He added that left-handed batsman batting style is similar to Adam Gilchrist.

"My word to him (Pant) would just keep playing the way he plays. Do not go into defensive mode. He doesn't need to change his game. The way he comes and attacks almost puts us on the backfoot. The way he plays is like how Adam Gilchrist used to play," David Warner told Sports today.

Warner lauded Rishabh Pant, saying that he could change the momentum of the game anytime. The opener recalled Pant’s innings at SCG and said that wicketkeeper-batsman is full of passion and is a fantastic talent for the future.

"He could change the momentum of the game straight away and that innings that he played at SCG was fantastic. It's that fearlessness inside him and he plays the game with passion. We talk about Australia a carefree attitude.

He goes out there, knows his game, and at the end of the day if he gets out playing that way and he can win you a lot of games then so be it and he is a fantastic talent for the future," he said.

Rishabh Pant will be crucial to Team India’s chances when they will take on New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final starting June 18 and the five-Test series against England beginning August 4.
