According to ESPNcricinfo, Kazi Inam Ahmed, the chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) -- the BCB sub-committee: "The match referee's report said that he committed two offences. He kicked the stumps and threw down the stumps. For this, Shakib Al Hasan has been sanctioned for three matches and fined Taka 5 lakh."
As a result, Shakib won't be able to take part in the 8th, 9th and 10th round of Dhaka Premier League.
Playing for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Abahani Limited, Shakib lost his cool at the umpire twice in the space of two overs on Friday (June 11).
He once kicked the stumps after an LBW appeal was turned down and then protested against the umpire’s decision to call off play due to rain by uprooting the stumps, smashing them on the ground.
After Shakib's on-field antics went viral on social media, he tendered an unconditional apology on his Facebook page but the damage was done until then and his act of trying to damage match property is comparable to Level III offence.
"The board president is very much concerned about this (outburst), and wanted to know the root cause: why did it happen? He has asked us to do an investigation before the board meeting this week," Ahmed was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
"A committee has been formed including myself, Jalal Yunus, Naimur Rahman, Sheikh Sohel and Raqibul Hasan, the chief match referee. We will hear from all the managers and captains of all the clubs, about any objection, incident or (contentious) decision during this Dhaka Premier League."
Over the last two years, Shakib Al Hasan has been time and again in the news for all the wrong reasons. He was banned from all cricket for a year in 2019 for failing to report multiple corrupt approaches from bookies.
