Puma offered sponsorship to Ryan Burl after his heartfelt appeal on Twitter showing him gluing his shoes.
It was a said representation of Zimbabwe cricket which has fallen into hard times after the highs of the 1990s and 2000s when the national team had given the top teams a run for their money and were considered a genuine threat in both ODIs and Test cricket.
Ryan Burl asked for someone to sponsor the players as they were resorting to gluing their shoes after every series as they were short of funds and posted a heartbreaking photo on Twitter.
"Any chance we can get a sponsor so we don’t have to glue our shoes back after every series @newbalance @NewBalance_SA @NBCricket @ICAssociation," he tweeted.
Now just 24 hours after his appeal on Twitter for sponsorship, Ryan Burl got great news as sportswear manufacturer Puma Cricket came forward and offered him a sponsorship, which he gladly accepted.
“I can’t wait to join the @pumacricket team! Thanks so much for reaching out,” Burl tweeted.
Burl also thanked the fans for their help and support over the last 24 hours after his appeal and receiving the Puma sponsorship.
“I am so proud to announce that I’ll be joining the @pumacricket team. This is all due to the help and support from the fans over the last 24 hours. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all. Thanks so much @PUMA,” he tweeted.
