Ravindra Jadeja and his wife Rivaba gets first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

Jadeja was recently named in India squad for England tour.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja became the latest cricketer to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus ahead of the important Test tour of England amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

On Friday, May 14, Jadeja – who was named in India squad for England tour, and his wife Rivaba Jadeja got their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine in Rajkot, Gujarat.

Earlier, Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rishabh Pant have also got their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Jadeja will travel alongside the 20-member Indian cricket team to the United Kingdom to play in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand in Southampton from June 18, as well as, a five-match Test series against England next month.

Team India will leave for England on June 2 for a three-and-a-half-month tour, comprising six Test matches, including the WTC final and a Test series in England and the players are allowed by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) to take their families on the long tour.

Notably, India is currently fighting the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 and Jadeja had earlier urged his countrymen to not just stay home to be safe, but help those who need support because everyone needs to battle it out together to win the battle against the pandemic.
