Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were overwhelmed with the response they got to their campaign for COVID-19 relief work in India as it raised over INR 11 crore in a week. The couple had kicked off the campaign by donating Rs 2 crores themselves and their fans followed on.

Words fall short to express how overwhelmed we feel to have exceeded our target not once, but twice, thanks to each one of you. To everyone who has donated, shared, & helped in any way, I want to say a big thank you. We are #InThisTogether & we will overcome this together,” the Indian skipper wrote on Twitter.

Last week the Indian skipper along with wife Anushka Sharma had started this campaign and urged everyone to come forward and help our country during these tough times.

Let’s all come together and help those around us in need of our support. I urge you all to join our movement,” Kohli had said.

The right-hand batsman had to return home as the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) was indefinitely suspended with some of the players and members of support staff had tested positive for COVID-19 inside teams’ bio-bubbles.

Virat Kohli and Co. will be seen back in action as they will be playing the final of ICC World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand at Southampton from June 18 followed by a five-match Test series against England scheduled to begin from August 4.
