Rajasthan Royals' pacer Chetan Sakariya was struck by tragedy as his father Kanjibhai, who was battling COVID-19 for the last few days, lost the battle and passed away at a hospital in Gujarat's Bhavnagar on Sunday, reported TV9 Gujarat. The news comes after it was reported a day ago that the cricketer visited his father at the hospital.

Sakariya has recently gotten a part of his IPL salary, which he had transferred to his family so that his father could get the best possible treatment.

IPL 2021: ‘Part payment from Rajasthan Royals helping my family’, says Chetan Sakariya as his father battling COVID-19

I was lucky because I had received my part payment from Rajasthan Royals a few days ago. I straight away transferred money back home, and that is helping my family the most in my toughest time,” Sakariya told The Indian Express.

After returning from IPL, Sakariya had spent most of his time at the hospital and was worried about his father, who was also a diabetic patient. His passing comes as a huge jolt for the cricketer, who, just months before the auction, lost his younger brother.
