Ross Taylor diagnosed with a grade one calf strain ahead of England Tour

New Zealand are scheduled to play a two Test series against England starting from June 2.

With New Zealand’s one of the finest batsman Ross Taylor has been diagnosed with a grade one muscle strain in his left calf said New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday, with England tour just a month away.

Taylor who missed a couple of One Day Internationals against Bangladesh in March owing to a left hamstring injury has now picked up a calf injury on the opening day of their training camp in Lincoln on Monday.

An MRI scan has confirmed a grade one muscle strain to Ross Taylor's left calf. He sustained the injury on the first day of camp and will stay with the team to help rehabilitate the injury. Taylor will then look to return to batting and running next week before flying to England,” the country’s governing body tweeted.

The 37-year-old who went 14 innings without a century to his name will retain his number 4 in the New Zealand batting order provided he gets fully fit in time for the England series.

The Blackcaps are scheduled to play a two-Test series against England starting June 2. After the Test series against the home team, New Zealand will be facing team India in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship in Southampton from June 18.
