The duo has come in as replacements to injured Lahiru Kumara and Dilshan Madushanka.
Sri Lanka who are currently playing a home Test series against Bangladesh, have added Lakshan Sandakan and Chamika Karunaratne as the replacement for the injured duo of Lahiru Kumara and Dilshan Madushanka in the squad for the second and final Test against Bangladesh.
“Both Sandakan and Karunaratne joined the team today after going through the required health protocols,” Sri Lanka Cricket said in a release.
Lahiru Kumara had picked up a hamstring injury while fielding on day 3 of the first Test. He had bowled 28 overs in the first innings with one wicket to his name. Madushanka was also ruled out from the ongoing Test series.
The first Test match between the two subcontinental side ended in a draw as the last session of day 5 was washed out due to rain which forced the umpires to call the game off.
Bangladesh picked up five wickets in the first session of Day five as the home team declared with 648 runs on the board at the loss of 8 wickets, with a lead of 107 runs. In reply, Bangladesh scored 100/2 before the game was called off due to persistent rain.
Sri Lanka skipper and opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne and Dhananjaya de Silva played superb knocks of 244 and 166 respectively but were removed by Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed which then saw hosts declaring for 648/8 as they lost a flurry of wickets.
The final Test between the two sides will be begin on Thursday (29 April) and will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
