Cummins wishes to play 'fearless' cricket like Pant.
“As a fan, you always tend to enjoy someone who is playing a completely different game than everybody else. They are fearless, you look at them and feel geez wish I could do that as well, geez he was Brave. So, I think in three recent series it was Rishabh Pant,” Cummins told Australian seamer Joshua Lalor in a show called ‘Morton Someday’.
The southpaw was amazing in the recent away series against Australia as he hit the winning runs at the Gabba where the Australians had not lost a Test match since 1988.
“You just got to say well done when someone plays like that, takes the game on and it comes off. You've probably got 50 other players who probably wouldn't have taken the game on like that. He's always good to watch,” the 27-year-old pacer added.
IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant hoping to apply the “learnings” from MS Dhoni to beat CSK in first game
The Delhi-based batsman has been in sublime form since the Australia series as he scored a superb 97 in the Sydney Test but unfortunately couldn’t get the team over the line.
But Pant proved his mettle in the fourth Test in Brisbane which was also the series decider as he scored a match-winning knock of 89 runs as team India won their second consecutive Test series in Australia.
The 23-year-old was recently appointed as the leader of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 14) in absence of Shreyas Iyer. Thus it will be interesting to see how the explosive batsman goes about in leading his side.
