Du Plessis announced his retirement from Test cricket last month.
Faf du Plessis, who retired from Test cricket last month, wasn’t included in the central contract list. Nonetheless, he will be available for inclusion in ICC tournaments for South Africa.

South Africa Men’s central contract list includes Temba Bavuma (limited-over captain), Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar (Test captain), Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen
"We are about to enter into a very important cricket season with World Cup events for both the men's and the women's teams, and we are confident that we have the correct personnel and necessary depth within the system to produce teams that will challenge the best in the world in the coming 12 months," Pholetsi Moseki, CSA's acting chief executive, was quoted as saying in a media release.
CSA also announced South Africa Women’s team contract on March 16. The Proteas Women’s team is currently touring India and they have clinched the five-ODI series by taking an unassailable 3-1 lead.
South Africa Women’s team contract list includes Dané van Niekerk (captain), Trisha Chetty, Nadine de Klerk, Mignon du Preez, Lara Goodall, Shabnim Ismail, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabong Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Lizelle Lee, Suné Luus, Tumi Sekhukhune, Chloe Tryon, Laura Wolvaardt
"We are confident that the number of selected players for both the men's and women's teams is sufficient to maintain them across the formats in which they participate," Moseki added.
