England Legends beat India Legends by 6 runs in a World Road Safety Series game.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen on Tuesday (March 9) turned the clock back to remind his fans of his playing days during a Road Safety World Series game between India Legends and England Legends at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.
On Tuesday, Pietersen played an entertaining knock of 75 off just 37 deliveries to single-handedly England Legends to 188/7 in their allotted 20 overs against India Legends in Raipur.
For India Legends, Yusuf and Irfan Pathan were the stars with the ball, taking three scalps in three overs and two wickets respectively against England Legends on Tuesday. Munaf Patel also took 3 scalps.
Chasing 189 to win the game, India Legends’ Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar failed to impress with the bat and fell early for 6 and 9 respectively.
However, Irfan kept the India Legends in the hunt with a brilliant 61* and he was also well supported by Yuvraj Singh (22) and Manpreet Goni (35*), but couldn’t take the hosts over the line as England Legends won the game by 6 runs on Tuesday.
For England Legends, Monty Panesar (3/15) and James Tredwell (2/44) were the star performers with the ball with Pietersen was adjudged player of the match for his entertaining knock in the Road Safety World Series contest against India Legends on Tuesday in Raipur.
Following the close victory over India Legends, Pietersen took to Instagram to take a cheeky dig at England selectors by sharing an image with his legends.
Pietersen captioned the picture on Instagram, “So England CAN beat India in India! How cool was that game? England selectors - we're all available.”
