Sri Lanka made a roaring comeback as they thrashed West Indies by 43 runs in the second T20I to level the three-match series 1-1 in Antigua on Friday (March 5).

Opting to bat first, the visitors posted 160/6 in 20 overs on the back of Danushka Gunathilaka’s 42-ball 56 and Pathum Nissanka’s 23-ball 37. Wanindu Hasaranga also played a valuable cameo of 11-ball 19.

Dwayne Bravo was the stand-out bowler for West Indies, claiming 2 wickets by conceding 25 runs in his four overs.

In reply, the home team got bowled out for 117 in 18.4 overs. It was a listless performance from the West Indies as none of the batters managed to touch the 25-run mark.

For Sri Lanka, left-arm chinaman Lakshan Sandakan (3-10) and leg-spinner Hasaranga (3-17) did the bulk of the damage with the ball, taking 6 wickets between them while also being economical.

Off-spinner Akila Dananjaya (1-13), who was smashed for 6 sixes in an over by Kieron Pollard in the first T20I, also chipped in with a wicket while pacer Dushmantha Chameera (2-26) accounted for a couple of scalps.

The series-decider will also be played at the same venue on Sunday (March 7).
