Facebook has blocked a picture from a photograph gallery of the England cricket team in a huddle. The reason given by Facebook was very surprising as they labeled it as 'overtly sexual' content.
As per the report of BBC, Mike Hall, the owner of the digital photo gallery has clarified that there is no picture out of the 400 photographs that violated any rule, but they were taken down by Facebook following his attempt to use them as ads on the social media platform.
The 400 images that were banned by Facebook had the picture of a cow standing on a field, a Hong Kong timeline, a high-rise building, firework display.
Not only 'overtly sexual' content, but Facebook also provided the reason to ban the image for 'promoting weapons' too.
The picture of the England cricket team was from the fourth Test against India at Southampton in 2018. The gallery had the picture of a team huddle before the start of play and slip cordon, featuring Joe Root, Sir Alastair Cook, Ben Stokes, and James Anderson. It was the last series of Cook for England.
Facebook's ad policies don't allow the promotion of adult products and services. However, the ads were later restored and Facebook apologized to the photographer as they admitted that the photographs were "restricted in error”.
“When you’re running a small business or any business where you’re trying to figure out what’s gone wrong,” Hall told BBC. “You can’t have an arbitrary process with no-one to talk to. When I set up my account with Facebook I had to verify my business with them – but after that, it fell into an abyss.”
