Big Bash League (BBL 10) has seen some horrendous umpiring calls this season. It has put the umpiring standards under the scanner.

The outrage started after umpire Simon Lightbody gave not-out to a clear outside edge to the wicket-keeper during Sydney Thunder’s clash with the Perth Scorchers.

Former Australia spinner Shane Warne was furious after another similar poor umpiring call during the match between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers on Thursday.

Brisbane’s Tom Cooper was given LBW out despite having a big piece of the bat on the ball. The incident happened in the 12th over when Cooper played a reverse sweep off spinner Danny Briggs.

A huge appeal was made by Adelaide players and the umpire gave Cooper out. The batsman was in shock and so were the commentators, Warne and Andrew Symonds.

"Hit it, didn’t he? He’s hit it, didn’t he?” Warne said. “OH MY GOODNESS! What is going on with this umpiring? Something has to be done, this is ridiculous,” he said on Fox Cricket.

“Just come on. Enough’s enough. Enough is enough. We’ve seen too much of this. If we want to take this competition seriously, we’ve got to have DRS. Cricket Australia just has to pay for it. We can’t have these decisions,” Warne added.

Eventually, Heat lost the match by 2 runs, despite stand-in captain Peirson's brilliant half-century.
