India to play England in day-night Test at New Sardar Patel Stadium; series begins from Feb 7

England to tour India for 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches next year.

Team India will play a day-night Test match at the new Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad confirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah. England will be touring India for four Tests, 3 ODIs, and five T20Is and all the matches will be played in the country itself.

Shah also confirmed that the Test series will commence from 7 February 2021, while the day-night Test will be played from February 24 onwards.

"The first Test will start from February 7 and the day-night Test will be played in Ahmedabad at the Motera Stadium from February 24," said Shah while inaugurating Gujarat Cricket Association's indoor academy for young cricketers.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly earlier had revealed that India will play five T20Is against England when the visitors tour the country early next year. Shah further confirmed that all the five T20I matches will also be played in Ahmedabad itself.

"5 T20I matches will be played in Ahmedabad's Motera stadium," he said. The five T20Is against England will be good preparation for Virat Kohli's team for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is set to be played in India in October-November.

Former India wicket-keeper batsman and Gujarat captain, Parthiv Patel was also a part of the inauguration ceremony.
