He will not have to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine in Australia.
West Indies Test captain Jason Holder is all set to turn up for the Sydney Sixers in the upcoming 10th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21 after signing up a short-term contract with the defending BBL champions for the tournament on Tuesday (December 1).
The 29-year-old has signed a three-match contract with the Sydney Sixers and will join the club after the end of the upcoming two-match Test series in New Zealand starting December 3.
The star all-rounder will be available for the Sixers for their December 20 clash with the Adelaide Strikers in Hobart, December 26 fixture against the Melbourne Stars in the Gold Coast, and the December 29 matchup with the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL 10.
Holder will be allowed to enter Australia without having to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine, considering the travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand.
He will head straight to Hobart from Wellington, New Zealand to join Men in Magenta for the BBL clash against Adelaide Strikers on December 20 after captaining West Indies in the Test series.
Holder said of his maiden BBL stint, “I’m really excited to be coming to the BBL and in particular the Sydney Sixers. I’ve wanted to for a few years now and this year I have the opportunity to come in and make some appearances and hopefully do a bit for the Sixers.”
The all-rounder said he had watched BBL from a distance in the past and have discussed and played alongside the Sixers captain Moises Henriques for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL in 2014 and 2015 and excited to team-up again with the Aussie in the BBL 2020-21.
He added, “BBL cricket is an interest for me and the Sixers have been successful over the past few years. Moises and I played together at Sunrisers and I really enjoyed that. It will be good to do it again.”
Noteworthy, the Sixers will begin their BBL title defence against the Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena on December 10 in the upcoming tournament.
