Hasan was representing Northern’s Second XI in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Raza Hasan has been expelled from the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam trophy as well as the remaining domestic cricket season for his “irresponsible and damaging” actions, breaching COVID-19 protocols set up by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB confirmed that the 28-year-old – who was representing Northern’s Second XI in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, will not be allowed in the remaining domestic season on Monday (November 30).
The board also confirmed that Hasan was sent home after he “left the bio-secure premises at a local hotel without seeking a prior clearance from the medical team and the High-Performance department”.
PCB’s High-Performance Director Nadeem Khan said: “It is sad and unfortunate that despite several reminders and educational programs on the significance and importance of respecting and following COVID-19 protocols, Raza Hasan decided to take matters in his hand and overstepped the line.”
He further added, “As such, he has been expelled from the tournament and will not be allowed for the remaining season. He should reflect on his irresponsible actions and the potential damage his breach could have caused to the event in general and Pakistan cricket in particular.”
Hasan has so far represented Pakistan in just 10 T20 internationals and an ODI before receiving a two-year ban after testing positive for a banned substance in 2015. He was given chance for a comeback with PSL in 2018 but he couldn’t make an impact in the two seasons with Lahore Qalandars.
Noteworthy, the PCB has set up bio-secure hotels for both the Quaid-e-Azam trophy teams and the second XI sides with players prohibited from leaving the premises without seeking permission from the medical staff and the High-Performance department due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
