New Zealand hosted West Indies in the first game of the three-match T20I series at the Eden Park in Auckland on Friday (November 27).

Asked to bat first, the visitors rode on skipper Kieron Pollard’s 37-ball 75* to post 180/7 on the board in a 16-over-a-side contest due to rain.

Lockie Ferguson was the stand-out bowler for New Zealand, claiming 5 wickets by conceding only 21 runs in his 4 overs.

In reply, the Kiwis overhauled the revised target of 176 with five wickets in hand and four balls to spare. Batting at No. 3, Devon Conway played a blazing knock of 29-ball 41 while Jimmy Neesham (48 not out off 24 balls) and Mitchell Santner (31 not out off 18 balls) took the home team over the line with fine innings.

Oshane Thomas (2-23), Sheldon Cottrell (1-30) and Pollard (1-16) were among the wickets for West Indies.
