Yuvraj Singh eyeing a stint in BBL, Cricket Australia trying to find him a club

Yuvraj featured in Global T20 Canada League and Abu Dhabi T10 League last year.

After taking retirement from international cricket last year, Yuvraj Singh plied his trade in overseas tournaments such as Global T20 Canada League, Abu Dhabi T10 League and the southpaw is now looking to become the first player from India to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) – Australia’s domestic T20 competition.

The BBL is yet to feature an Indian international as the BCCI doesn’t provide NOC for any other T20 league around the world.

Since Yuvraj is retired from both India’s domestic and international cricket, he is free to play in foreign leagues.

His manager Jason Warne of W Sports & Media confirmed that Cricket Australia were interested in finding the former India cricketer a club.

"We're working with CA to try to find him a home," Warne was quoted as saying by The Age on Monday (September 7).

This development comes in the wake of former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson’s comment that the BBL would benefit from the presence of Indian players.

“It would be incredible for them to be able to play in these tournaments. That is the ideal situation. There are so many world-class T20 players in India that aren’t playing for India that could be potentially available to play in the Big Bash and other tournaments around the world,” Watson had said. “If that’s able to happen, that would make a massive difference.”
