As soon as the legendary MS Dhoni called time on his international career on August 15, cricket fans and other eminent personalities asked for a farewell match for one of India’s greatest cricketers.

While it is unlikely that Dhoni will get to play a farewell game for India, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) is looking to felicitate its most famous cricketing son.

According to a TOI report, JSCA members met for their Annual General Meeting via a webinar on Sunday (August 30) morning and discussed the same but no final decision was taken.

For now, they have planned to consult Dhoni for his felicitation once he returns home from UAE after leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2020.

"After we talk to him only then we can come to any decision about it. We haven’t taken any decision today (Sunday)," JSCA secretary Sanjay Sahay told TOI.

"We will definitely request him for the felicitation. Whatever we do we need to ask him first. BCCI will probably do it their own way but if it doesn’t happen from their end then definitely we would like to do something about it (felicitating him)," he added.

Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren appealed to the BCCI to organise one final match for Dhoni, who represented India in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is.

However, Rajeev Shukla, the former IPL chairman, dismissed the idea, saying there is no question of a farewell match for Dhoni as the former skipper himself never asked for it.
