Former Pakistan's spinner Saqlain Mushtaq doesn't think MS Dhoni got proper treatment from BCCI. Dhoni retired from international cricket on August 15 without playing a farewell match and Saqlain feels it wasn't right.

Dhoni last played for India in ICC World Cup 2019 semifinal against New Zealand, but he waited for over a year to announce retirement. It was speculated that he may feature in the T20 World Cup this year, but it got postponed to 2022 which took away the chance of featuring in the Indian team for one last time.

"I think everyone who loves MS Dhoni will have one complaint. If he wore India's kit, with gloves on and holding the bat, and taken the gloves off, and his cap off with respect one last time, then it would have been great," Saqlain said on his YouTube channel.

"I usually don't say anything negative on my show, and if I feel like it, I try and stop myself, but my heart says that I should say this. It is BCCI's loss that they did not treat such a big player the right way", he said.

Dhoni played 350 ODIs and 90 Tests for India. He was also part of 98 T20Is before quitting international cricket.  Mushtaq is hurt with the way Dhoni had to go as he wanted him to see playing one more time.

"This is not how he should have retired. I can say with surety that crores of his fans and cricket lovers would also agree that BCCI did not treat him right," the former spinner said.

"I'm really sorry to BCCI for saying this, but I am also hurt. Such a big player and he is retiring like this. I think every cricketer has a dream to exit on a high, and I am sure MS Dhoni too would have had the same dream."

"MS Dhoni you are a gem of a person and real hero, proud of you," he added.
