BJP leader Subramanian Swamy reveals why MS Dhoni should fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections

Veteran BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has urged the recently retired cricketer, MS Dhoni, to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dhoni, former India captain from 2007-2017, called time on his international career on August 15, 2020.

Dhoni, one of the most popular cricketers in the world, enjoys a massive following in India as well, especially in the Northern belt including his home state of Jharkhand and neighboring Bihar.

Swamy made the comment on the backdrop of Dhoni's retirement from international cricket and said, "His talent-to be able to fight against odds and his inspiring leadership of a team that he has demonstrated in cricket is needed in public life. He should fight in LS General Elections in 2024."

The tweet received more than 10.7K retweets and more than 78K likes.

Dhoni had made his India debut in 2004 in an ODI against Bangladesh and Test debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka. He played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20I in his 15-year international career. He will be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the upcoming IPL 2020 to be played from September 19 in the UAE.

Announcing his retirement, Dhoni had shared a video on Instagram and captioned the post, "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired."
