England all-rounder Sam Curran on Thursday (July 2) underwent a COVID-19 test after he complained of sickness and diarrhea, ruling him out of the ongoing intra-squad warm-up match at the Ageas Bowl.

"England all-rounder Sam Curran has had sickness and diarrhea overnight. He is feeling better this afternoon and has been self-isolating in his room at the Ageas Bowl. He will play no further part in the practice match," the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

"He has been monitored by the team doctor throughout and was tested for COVID-19 earlier today," the statement said, without mentioning when the result will be available.

Curran was unbeaten on 15 on the opening day of the three-day match. England will hope the all-rounder tests negative for the virus, and regains fitness in time for the First Test against West Indies starting on July 8. The series marks resumption of international cricket after the four-month hiatus due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
