Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi took to social media to send prayers for the speedy recovery of the 10 Pakistan cricketers who have tested positive for Coronavirus.

After 3 Pakistan players contracted the deadly virus on Monday (June 22), the highly contagious COVID-19 has now infected 7 more national team players on Tuesday (June 23) – who were all named in Pakistan's 29-member squad for their upcoming tour of England.

Wishing the affected players, Afridi, who himself tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this month, also requested all his fellow citizens to take the fast-spreading COVID-19 virus seriously.

The legendary all-rounder wrote on his Twitter handle on Tuesday: “Prayers for quick recovery of Fakhar, Imran Khan, Kashif, Hafeez, Hasnain, Rizwan and Wahab, and Malang. Please take good care. Appeal to all Pakistanis, please take the virus seriously!”

Meanwhile, Pakistan's tour of England has suffered a major setback with the news of Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wahab Riaz, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan testing positive for COVID-19.

Apart from the players, a Pakistan team support staff named Malang Ali (masseur) also tested positive for Coronavirus while Shoaib Malik, Cliffe Deacon, and Waqar Younis are still to undergo the test.

Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement: “The PCB medical panel is already in contact with these players and the masseur, who have been instructed to observe strict quarantine at their homes for their and their families’ wellbeing.”

Noteworthy, the board also said that the players and player support personnel, who have tested negative, will assemble in a bio-secure environment in Lahore on 24 June and they will all undergo a second round of COVID-19 testing on 25 June before leaving for the England tour.
