The Sri Lankan players will start their next training programme next week.
Sri Lanka head coach Mickey Arthur has declared his boys match fit, saying the Islanders are raring to play international cricket again after his team completed a first post-COVID-19 lockdown training session on Friday (June 12) following a Coronavirus-forced hiatus.
Cricketers around the world have been on the COVID-19 forced break with no cricketing activity since mid-March due to the global outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Sri Lanka’s cricket came to a halt on March 13 when England called off the Test series during a practice match because of the COVID-19 risk, although, the players were following the home-training regimes given by Arthur during the lockdown period in the Island nation.
However, cricket is now slowly trying to return to normalcy as some international teams have returned to training earlier this month and Sri Lanka was one of them.
Well, Sri Lanka’s “return-to-play” programme that was a residential training for 13 players had been a success, as Arthur said his team will be fully prepared for international actions by next month.

Arthur stated, “We have done a lot of conditioning and every day we have upped their bowling. So, they are almost ready in the next month, they will be ready to play cricket.”
Noteworthy, Sri Lanka’s next training session is due in about a week despite there being no idea when the Islanders will return to international action again after India called off the July tour consisting of three One-Day Internationals and three T20 matches because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
