West Indies all-rounder Daren Sammy is not happy with the racist slur used for him by his former Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates. As Sammy had said he was called 'Kalu' and when the ex-SRH all-rounder got to know its meaning, he was deeply hurt.

A Twitter user tried to defend the use of the 'Kalu' word in India. He said it could have been said in a friendly manner as Indians don't mean to offend the other person while addressing them with that word.

The user also shared his personal experience and wrote, "@darensammy88 Just so that you know, "Kalu" is NOT always a racist slur. It'd also be an endearing term used in Indian families. My late grandma used to call me that. It depends on the context/tone. Yes, it could be racist. Not always."

Sammy doesn't want to take the word lightly and he said the slur shouldn't be used. "So if there can be a racist slur to it I don’t think it should be used.", the tweet read.
