“I will give up my fame in an instant if I can lead a normal life,” says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the only cricketer in Forbes list of highest earning sportspersons.

Virat Kohli, India’s skipper was the only cricketer and Indian in the recently released Forbes' list of the highest-paid sportspersons, coming in at 66^th number, with estimated annual earnings of $26 million. His popularity amongst the cricket educated population is sky high and he enjoys special adulation from Indian and RCB fans all over the world.

Virat Kohli was having this conversation with India off-spinner R Ashwin for the final episode of 'Reminisce with Ash' and was asked about his fame and everything that he has gotten thanks to cricket.

Replying to it, Kohli mentioned that he will give up all of his fame and everything in an instant to lead a normal life.

"To be honest, I love the sport. I know you are fanatic as well. I love the opportunity to do something that can inspire people. Playing for your country is the biggest honor for any sportsperson. Having said that, if someone told me would you like to give all your fame, I would give it just like that. Because over a period of time you realize that, you are doing what is important, but you also need to be a normal person at the end of the day," he said.

“I think both Anushka (Sharma) and myself are very comfortable being in our space at our homes doing normal things. Fame, too much attention, too much intrusion and interest into what we are doing all the time, that I don't relate to,” he further said.

He says it’s easy for him to get off social media and get busy in other things as he didn’t grow up with phones and internet ruling every part of his life.
