Dhoni led India to glory in all three major ICC tournaments.
MS Dhoni, the only captain in the history of Cricket to win all ICC trophies, is currently out of Indian colors having made himself unavailable for selection since the 2019 World Cup in England. The talismanic cricketer has not played for India since its semi-final defeat to New Zealand last July.
Dhoni's long absence from the game has led to a lot of speculation regarding former India captain's future in international cricket, though, he was to return to the action with the IPL 2020, which was unfortunately postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the suspense continues over Dhoni's future, former Indian cricketer-turned-politician Chetan Sharma has now joined the debate regarding the legendary cricketer’s future with Team India.
Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket is well known to everyone and former pacer also acknowledged his contributions, but said the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman will now have to fight for a place in the Indian team given his unavailability from the game for so long.
Sharma, who had scripted history by becoming the first bowler to take a hat-trick in a World Cup in the 4th edition of the tournament, believes that Dhoni will have to face stiff competition for his place in the Indian cricket team, as the players like, KL Rahul, have cemented their place in the team.

In a conversation with Cricketaddictor, Sharma said: “No one can deny that Dhoni has contributed a lot to the Indian team. He has scaled heights across all formats and led the team to glory in all three major ICC tournaments. But, his unavailability for so long has raised questions in front of the selectors,”
He signed off by saying, “Due to his absence, a couple of youngsters have cemented their place in the team. There is KL Rahul who has done exceptionally well in India’s recent outings. After that, Rishabh Pant is also in contention. So, MS Dhoni will now have to fight for a place in the India team,”
