Kaneria is hopeful of positive cricket ties between India and Pakistan.
Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria isn't happy with the words used by his fellow ex-Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi in a speech against India. Afridi had visited Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and made comments against the Indian army and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kaneria advised Afridi to watch his words before making such statements which can make a negative image of Pakistan cricket.
“Shahid Afridi should think before speaking on any matter. If he wants to join politics then he should quit all ties with cricket. It is important to stay away from cricket if you are speaking like a politician. Speeches like these create a negative image of Pakistan cricket not only in India but also around the world,” he told India TV.
The banned cricketer further slammed Afridi for taking the help of Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh and then making childish comments against India.
“He appealed for help from them and after getting the help you end up saying things about their country and PM. What sort of friendship is this?”, he added.
Kaneria is in favor of bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan. “Cricketing ties between the two countries should resume. India and Pakistan have some political tension between them, which the government of both countries should resolve with dialogue so that cricket can return.", he said.
