Sarfaraz Khan decides to not celebrate Eid this year; will help the needy during COVID-19 lockdown

Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan is currently in his village Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh since government has imposed COVID-19 lockdown later this March and helping the needy in this testing time.

In the fight against the global Coronavirus pandemic, Sarfaraz and his family are doing their bit to help migrant workers in the UP and even the young cricketer has decided to not celebrate Eid this year, instead, help the migrant workers suffering in the ongoing nationwide shutdown.

The 22-year-old right-hander along with his father-cum-coach Naushad Khan has distributed lunch packets containing banana and apples and mineral water bottles to migrant workers, who were arriving in auto-rickshaws and trucks, on the Gorakhpur road.

Sarfaraz said: “We will not celebrate Eid this time. The money we would have spent to buy new clothes and accessories on Eid, will now be spent on those needing help. We urge all those who are economically well, but also come forward to help others in this time.”

He further added, “We’re distributing food and water bottles to people because so many people are returning to their villages due to the fear of coronavirus. They are hungry and thirsty, and have been travelling for so many days. We also stay hungry during Ramadan, so we have an idea about the value of food and water. We’ve decided not to celebrate Eid this time. We will not buy clothes, shoes or anything new this time. We will help out these migrant people instead.”

Noteworthy, Sarfaraz had a wonderful Ranji Trophy season for Mumbai, scoring 928 runs in just six games at an incredible average of 154.66 with triple ton this season was due to play for the Kings XI Punjab in the suspended IPL 2020.
