India is under lockdown since March 22 due to COVID-19 crisis.
India’s spin legend and former national team head coach Anil Kumble has on Saturday (May 9) thanked all the Corona Warriors for their selfless services towards the nation in the fight against the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He also urged all to diligently follow the instructions given by the authorities during this crisis, in order to ease the burden of the frontline warriors who are already risking their own lives to save the people.

Kumble said in a video posted on his Twitter handle, “I take this opportunity to thank all the corona warriors, be it the doctors, nurses, the attenders, the sanitation workers, volunteers, the government workers, police. All of you have been doing a great job. They have been great, selfless. They are at risk-taking care of patients, so hats off to them.”
The former leg-spinner further added, “Let’s all follow the instructions that have been given to us. Let’s do it diligently and be responsible so that we don’t burden our corona warriors,”
Meanwhile, the former India captain has also described the ongoing global health crisis as a Test match, saying all the citizens have to play together to emerge victorious against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said that the second innings can be really rough, so we should not be complacent with India’s first innings in the fight to win the battle against the COVID-19.
The former head coach added, “If we have to fight this coronavirus pandemic, we have to be in this together. It's like a Test match, cricket Test matches are of five days. But this has been longer.”
Kumble signed off by saying, “Cricket Test matches consist of two innings each, but this can be even more. So, don't be complacent that we had a slender lead in the first innings because the second innings can be really rough. We have to win this battle, it cannot be won just by a first-innings lead, we need to win this battle by registering an outright victory.”
Noteworthy, the number of COVID-19 cases has risen to around 60,000 in India while over 1,900 people have so far lost their lives due to the deadly virus in the country so far.
