Former Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal joined the bandwagon and chose his all-time Test XI. He chose Alastair Cook of England to open with a surprise choice of Indian great Sachin Tendulkar. Though Cook made his name as perhaps the greatest opener in Tests, Tendulkar rarely opened in Tests, in fact, he opened just once and scored 15 runs.
As for the spinners, two of Sri Lanka’s all-time greats and highest wicket-takers in the format, Rangana Herath and Muttiah Muralitharan were picked to finish the eleven players.
Talking of Chandimal, he has made 3877 runs in 57 Test matches at an average of 40.8.
