Shoaib suggested TV series to raise funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic in both countries.
India pacer Sreesanth on Tuesday (April 21) joined the long list of cricketers who have debated over the proposal of an India-Pakistan series by Shoaib Akhtar, former Pakistan speedster, to raise money to fight the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in both countries.
India and Pakistan have not played a full-series since 2007 due to the diplomatic tension between the two nations, only meets in ICC events and Asia Cup.
As the entire united to fight the global crisis, Shoaib had suggested a three-match series between India and Pakistan at neutral venues to raise money to fight the COVID-19 outbreak in both nations.
Well, the suggestion becomes the hot topic to discuss among the cricket fraternity, while the number of Indian cricket legends from Kapil Dev to Sunil Gavaskar was not impressed by the idea, dismissed the chances of a bilateral series between the two arch-rivals in the current circumstances.
Meanwhile, Sreesanth has also forwarded his views about the issue, saying he isn’t personally in favor of playing any match against Pakistan unless the relations between the old foes improve.
Sreesanth said during an Instagram live chat: “We are not in good terms with Pakistan so, India first and health first. Personally, I am not in favor of playing any match against Pakistan unless the relations between the two countries improve.”
Recently, the right-arm pacer picked India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev as the best-ever skipper and also named Virat Kohli and Jaspirt Bumrah as the best batsman and as the best fast bowler respectively in the world cricket at the moment.
Noteworthy, Sreesanth’s IPL 2013 spot-fixing ban will end in August this year and he will be eligible to play cricket for both his stateside Kerala and India as well.
