Two weeks ago, the East Delhi BJP MP had donated 50 Lakh to the Delhi government for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits and masks beside his two years’ salary to the PM CARES Fund, as well as, 1 Crore money from his MPLAD Fund for the equipment needed for treatment of COVID-19 patients in the national capital.
While announcing the latest donation, which came after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had asked for additional funds from the center to fight the COVID-19 crisis in the capital, Gambhir has lashed out at the AAP Government and Delhi Chief Minister for bringing the ego in this critical time instead of prioritizing the safety of the people.
He further claimed that the Delhi Government is yet to respond to his previous offer while saying the AAP’s ego didn’t allow them to take help from the BJP MP.
Gambhir took to Twitter on Monday to express his views regarding the same along with the donation while saying the Delhi people should not suffer for such reasons.

In addition to Rs 50 lakh which I had pledged two weeks ago, I would further like to pledge Rs 50 lakh from my MPLAD to your kind office with the hope that the said amount would be used in procurement of equipment of medical staff as well as treatment of COVID-19 patients.”
Gambhir had also previously accused the AAP government of "shedding crocodile tears" and playing victim card over the ongoing Coronavirus issue.
He had tweeted: “If millions of PPE promotions were put on TV from morning to evening, then the public would benefit. 2 weeks ago I had pledged 50 lakh for PPE Kits and Masks, till date no feedback. Now asking from the centre @ArvindKejriwal The two weapons, crocodile tears and victim card,”
Noteworthy, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), there are over 4100 confirmed cases of coronavirus cases in the country while over 500 cases in Delhi so far.
