Flynn made his New Zealand debut in 2008.
New Zealand batsman Daniel Flynn has on Thursday (April 2) called time on his 16-year-long career, at age 34. The left-hander represented the Black Caps in 24 Tests, 20 ODIs and five T20Is, scoring a combined total of 1325 international runs.
Flynn’s international career spanned a little over five years, but has a prolific first-class career with the Northern Districts, as he played 100 first-class matches for the side and scored 20 centuries – most by any batsman from the association. He also captained the Northern Districts in 47 first-class matches and in 25 limited-overs matches.
Flynn's maiden Test series was eventful in England, as the batsman batted almost three hours in the second innings of his debut Test at Lord's, where his 118-ball 29 helped New Zealand salvage a draw.

In the following Test at Old Trafford, the left-hander copped a nasty blow from James Anderson's bouncer, where he lost his two front teeth and eventually ruled out of the series.
The attacking southpaw was never able to cement his place in the New Zealand side despite his talent, as he hasn’t represented his country after last featuring against South Africa in 2013. However, he was satisfied with his international career while saying goodbye to the game with unforgettable memories.
Speaking to the official New Zealand Cricket website, Flynn said of the latest development: “Representing your country is the ultimate for any cricketer; it's what you dream of as a kid, so to have achieved it is something I look back on with immense satisfaction.”
He signed off by saying, “The people I've played alongside throughout my career stand out for me; they're not just good cricketers, but good people, who I've learned plenty from both on and off the field. Winning trophies for ND alongside these guys were always special, and those are memories that I will never forget.”
Noteworthy, Flynn played 135 first-class matches and scored 7815 runs, including 21 centuries, at an average of 35.04 while made a record 104 appearances for Northern Districts in List A and T20 matches respectively, scoring 2753 runs five hundred and 12 half-centuries.
