With the world battling one of the modern history's gravest challenges – global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev and VVS Laxman urged everyone to follow health advisories as well as be careful and responsible to help the authorities to arrest the spread of the virus.

The two cricket legends also stressed on the need to understand the seriousness of the situation while suggesting one and all to behave like responsible citizens by avoiding to public places in the interest of everyone to play their part in defeating the COVID-19 – which has claimed around 8000 lives so far.

As the death toll rises rapidly across the globe because of the deadly COVID-19, Dev and Laxman believe that it is “time to spend time with family” and stay positive and follow the instructions to help the authorities to control the outbreak of the coronavirus.

As per reports in The Hindu, Dev said: “Yes, forced to stay indoors but we all have to understand the seriousness of the situation. I know it would be a new experience for many of us to be confined to our homes, but this is the time to tend your injuries or just get rest, even if forced, to be prepared for the events ahead. You have to stay positive and remember that God is kind to us.”

The legendary all-rounder further added, “Don’t we get to play for ten months a year? So here is the time to be with the family and also be careful and responsible. The authorities are working to arrest the spread of this virus and we all have to avoid public places in the interest of everyone.”

Meanwhile, Laxman said: “We have to stop venturing out and have to behave like responsible citizens. For sportsmen, it can help them get the rest they would have desired. We must stay as much time at home as possible. Please listen to the authorities.”

He signed off by saying, “The more people follow the instructions the quicker the situation will come under control. Let us be responsible and disciplined.”
