Jason Gillespie reacts to the iconic Laxman-Dravid partnership during the epic 2001 Eden Gardens Test

VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid paired up to score 376 in over 100 overs on this day in 2001.

Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has reacted to the memory of the day VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid kept the Kangaroos on the field for the entire day in the epic Kolkata 2001 Test match.

The iconic 376-run partnership between VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid in the Eden Gardens Test against Australia meant that the visitors were made to toil hard in the field for an entire day without any success.

After being asked to follow on, Dravid joined Laxman when the scoreboard read 232/4 after 66.4 overs and nobody knew what was coming. The duo batted 104.1 overs with physical pain and fever and managed to give that to their opponents.

Gillespie, who bowled 31 overs and returned with figures of 2/115 in the second innings, was one of those who struggled in the heat. He replied, “Hard graft that day!
