Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday (February 25) named India skipper Virat Kohli in the Asia XI squad to face World XI in a marquee T20I series next month.

According to BCB, Kohli was supposed to play at least one match but a PTI report now claims that the India captain has not yet given his consent for the two T20Is in Dhaka on March 21 and 22.

India’s ongoing tour of New Zealand will end on March 4. Subsequently, the Men in Blue will play three ODIs against South Africa at home from March 12 to March 18.

Before the first ODI, a day is assigned when all the contracted Indian cricketers will undergo mandatory medical tests, including workload monitoring assessment ahead of the IPL 2020, starting March 29.

"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sent a wish list of 10 names and we are supposed to send five players. As of now, we have not confirmed any names. All the players including the skipper will undergo tests to check their level of workload. Only then we will give the names," a senior BCCI source told PTI.

Ahead of the ongoing New Zealand tour, Kohli had expressed his concerns over the cramped, never-ending schedule that has kept the Indian team on the road since the World Cup in UK last year.

When India head coach Ravi Shastri was asked the question about the possible effect on Virat’s workload if he has to travel to Dhaka for a T20 game after playing three ODIs in six days, he said it's an individual call.

"I think that's up to the individual. If he is feeling the strain, he will let the authorities know," Shastri said.

Bangladesh will host the two T20Is to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – country’s founding father.

Apart from Kohli, the BCB had named five other Indian cricketers in the Asia XI squad, including KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.
