The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly and its Secretary Jay Shah on Monday (February 24) made their presence felt at the Motera Stadium to welcome US President Donald Trump.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrived in Ahmedabad along with their daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Apart from addressing the 'Namaste Trump' event, the US President was also expected to inaugurate the Motera Stadium – the world's largest cricket ground with a seating capacity of 1.10 lakh people.

Recently, Ganguly was also left mesmerized by the beauty of Motera Stadium.

“Lovely to see such a massive, pretty stadium .. Ahmedabad .. have great memories in this ground as a player, captain ..grew up at Eden with hundred thousand capacity .. (not anymore).. can’t wait to see this on 24th,” the BCCI chief had tweeted last week.

The Motera stadium, owned by Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), has been completely rebuilt after demolishing the old one, which was constructed in 1982 with a seating capacity of 49,000 spectators.

One T20I, 12 Test matches, and 24 ODIs have been played in the ground before the reconstruction. The last match played on this ground was between India and Sri Lanka in November 2014.
