Khaleel picked 6 wickets on the tour so far, with 4 of those coming in the practice game.
Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed who was touring with the India A side to New Zealand has been ruled out of the rest of the tour after he suffered a wrist injury.
According to a BCCI statement, Khaleel had fractured his wrist during the first ODI against New Zealand A as it said, “Khaleel Ahmed fractured the scaphoid bone in his left wrist during India A's first one-day match against New Zealand A at Lincoln on January 22.”
The statement further revealed that the pacer’s hand is kept in a plaster cast and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be taking care of his rehabilitation. “His hand has been placed in a plaster cast and the left-arm fast bowler has been ruled out of the remainder of India A's tour. NCA will manage his rehabilitation,” it said.
The board is yet to announce a replacement for Khaleel who looked really good as he picked 4-48 in 9.1 overs in the first practice game against New Zealand A. India A is currently playing a three-match unofficial ODI series against New Zealand which will be followed by two four-day games.
As far as the unofficial ODI series is concerned, it is locked at 1-1 at the moment as India A won the first ODI by 5 wickets and then lost the second game by 29 runs.
Thus, all eyes will be on the series decider which is the third ODI to be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday (26 January).
