The second unofficial ODI between New Zealand A and India A was played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. It was a must-win match for the home side, who had lost the first encounter.

Mayank Agarwal won the toss and chose to field first and his decision was proven correct when Siraj dismissed Rachin Ravindra for a duck. Then Ishan Porel troubled the middle order consistently, picking 3/50, while Krunal and Akshar Patel did their job perfectly.

Unfortunately, George Worker slammed a terrific 135 with 12 fours and 6 sixes and with the help of 55 from Cole McConchie, took the final total to 295/7 in 50 overs. Jimmy Neesham also contributed 33 runs and rescued his team from disaster.

Apart from Porel, Siraj (2/73), while Krunal and Akshar picked one wicket each.

In the chase, Jamieson got rid of Shaw for 2, while Agarwal made 37. Almost every Indian batsman got a start with Kishan (44), Shankar (41) and Akshar (24) all tried their level best to get momentum throughout the innings. Krunal Pandya tried his best, hitting 51 in 48 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Kyle Jamieson (2/69), Jacob Duffy (2/35) and Jimmy Neesham (2/24) were the picks of bowlers, as India ended up with 266/9 in 50 overs and lost the match by 29 runs.

The third match will be played on Jan 29.
