Nadkarni was famous for bowling 21 consecutive maiden overs in a Test against England in Madras in 1964.
He also had a very good domestic record for Maharashtra and Mumbai, scoring 8880 runs and picking 500 wickets in 191 FC matches. In 41 Tests, he made 1414 runs with one century and 7 fifties, while picked 88 wickets with a best of 6/43. His highest FC score was 283* and he conceded just 1.67 runs per over in his Test career.
Nadkarni was ailing for quite some time and passed away at his daughter Anuradha Khare’s residence in Powai at 5.45 pm.
In the 1960-61 series against Pakistan, he had bowling figures of 32-24-23-0 in Kanpur, followed by 34-24-24-1 in Delhi.
